Psalm 69 (68): 8-10; 14,17; 33-35. R. 14c

Psalm 69 gives voice to the cry of the faithful servant who suffers for God’s sake, yet remains steadfast in trust, confident that the Lord will answer in compassion and set him free. This theme of faithful endurance mirrors Jeremiah’s experience of persecution in the first reading and prepares us for Jesus’ teaching in the Gospel, where he urges his disciples not to fear opposition but to proclaim the truth with courage, knowing they are held securely in the Father’s care.
