Psalm 78(77): 1-2; 34-35; 36-37; 38. R. cf. 7b

The central theme of psalm 78 is God’s actions throughout salvation history. It recounts how God’s people turned away, sinned and yet received mercy and forgiveness. Christ’s self-emptying and obedience to death on the cross exemplify God’s love for humanity. We remain in need of God’s love and mercy today.
