Psalm 86(85): 5-6; 9-10; 15-16a. R.5a

Psalm 86 reflects a people longing for God’s mercy and peace, trusting that his saving help is close for those who turn to him and that his goodness will flourish in their land. These themes echo today’s readings, which reveal a God who judges with patience and leniency, and prepare us for Jesus’ parables about the wheat and the weeds, where divine mercy and forbearance allow grace to grow even amid imperfection.
