Psalm 22(21): 8-9; 17-18a; 19-20; 23-24. R.2a

*Psalm 22 is a cry of anguish, pleading to God to be saved from those who wish to do us harm. Both St Matthew and St Mark tell us in their Gospel that Jesus quoted the opening words of this psalm as he hung on the cross. Appropriately, they form the response: ***My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
